Major Medical Health Insurance Program

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana

The MNA Health Plan offers seven options. Each employer group will be initially rated on their own age demographic and health risk to determine the premium rate for that group. Going forward, risk - and therefore rate increases - will be shared across the entire pool of users - currently at 1000 lives. Any 501(c)(3) organization that is a member of MNA is eligible for our health insurance plan.

As an association plan, we now have a "plan year" that starts each July. Rates are available for employee only, employee plus spouse, employee + family and employee + child(ren). Some Plans are also available to groups with one eligible employee. In addition to health and prescription drug benefits, each plan also includes the following enhancements:

  • 100% paid annual Vision exam benefit for all enrolled family members on the health plan
  • $5,000 Life and AD&D insurance for the insured.
  • 24/7 toll-free Health information hotline to registered nurses who can help you make the best, most informed choice for your healthcare needs

To learn more about our health insurance plan, visit our FAQ, or contact Mountain West Benefits - they can refer you to a qualified agent that can get you a quote. MNA employees cannot provide quotes for health insurance. Download BCBS application.

Director & Officers Liability Insurance Program

The Montana Nonprofit Association (MNA) endorses Monitor Liability Managers, Inc. as MNA's preferred provider of Directors and Officers Liability Insurance.

Monitor Liability Managers, Inc.

Monitor is a wholly-owned subsidiary of W.R. Berkley Corporation operating nationally as an underwriting management company specializing in professional liability insurance. Monitor places coverage only through member companies of W.R. Berkley that are "A" (Excellent) or better by A.M. Best.

Overview
Protecting your organization from management and employment practices liability through Directors and Officers insurance is important for today's nonprofits. Montana’s Immunity Law does not protect your organization from legal action or from incurring expenses related to legal defense. Monitor provides among the broadest coverage available on the market and includes coverage for employment practices liability, personal injury, defense costs outside the policy limits, third party liability, and more. Coverage is available for most non-medical organizations. Premiums will vary depending on total assets, number of employees, and activities of the nonprofit.

Unemployment Insurance Savings Program

The Montana Nonprofit Association (MNA) endorses First Nonprofit Companies and their unemployment savings products.

First Nonprofit Companies logo

Overview

Instead of paying the state unemployment tax, nonprofits can elect to opt out of the state system and reimburse the state for validated claims paid to former employees, dollar for dollar. This translates into savings of as much as 50% of your unemployment costs.

First Nonprofit Companies offers several programs for nonprofits which are designed to allow the organization to enjoy the reduced costs of reimbursing without exposing their budgets to unnecessary risk. Each program meets the needs of different size organizations with different budgetary goals. If your organization is a 501(c)(3) with at least 5 full-time employees, one of these programs can probably save you money.

Program Highlights

  • A few of the many highlights of the program include:
  • Unemployment insurance savings of as much as 50%,
  • 20% discount on the one-time enrollment fee for MNA members,
  • Stop loss insurance to support the agency in the event of catastrophic layoffs,
  • Claims administration services including representation in unemployment hearings and audits
  • Training opportunities on employer responsibilities and risk mitigation
  • Free cost-savings evaluation conducted by First Nonprofit Companies

Enrolled Nonprofits

Currently, Fifty-three (53) nonprofits nonprofits in the State of Montana are enrolled in the program and enjoying savings and administrative benefits. Collectively, these nonprofits will save more than $243,000 annually. To find out how much your agency can save each year, complete the free cost savings evaluation and return it to First Nonprofit Companies.
