The 2017 Annual MNA conference, Go Further Together, celebrated the transformation that takes place when nonprofits join forces for greater impact.
Highlights
Organizers asked attendees to reflect on their individual power and responsibility to foster relationships and communities that move the common good forward. The event was designed for networking, learning and renewal. Attendees experienced national and local speakers, focused training, peer exchange, a nonprofit trade show, full day preconference workshops, and tangible tools they could use to put into action at their organizations immediately.
Conference Events
Preconference workshops: These full day workshops were held on Tuesday, September 26. Topics included “the Art and Science of Facilitation,” “Language of Leadership,” “Grant Writing,” “Nonprofit Legal Symposium,” and “PowerUp,” which explored digital framework in nonprofit organizations.
Main Conference Workshops: Organized into five tracks, concurrent sessions covered a wide spectrum of nonprofit management and leadership practices. Taught by national and local experts, these sessions made the conference a rich training opportunity for nonprofit staff, board and volunteers. Areas covered included board of directors, fund development, nonprofit leadership and management, going further together, and nonprofit essential like marketing and technology.
Exhibitor Fair: Attendees were able to talk to vendors about HR, finance, technical products and other interesting solutions for your nonprofit.
Book Fair: Featured books from popular nonprofit authors and resources including speaker and staff favorites.
Keynote Address
The keynote speaker at the 2017 MNA conference was Dan Rockwell—leadership coach, consultant, and creator of Leadership Freak blog. An internationally sought-after leadership coach, consultant, writer and author, Rockewell’s articles have been published in the material of the American Marketing Association, the American Management Association, the Society for Human Resource Management, the Deloitte Leadership Academy, Huffington Post, and many others. Rockwell reminded attendees of the value of building relationships across their professional spectrum, from colleagues in their office to similar organizations and beyond.
