The MNA office will be closed Tuesday, April 30th. Here’s why.

Last year we invited Beth Kanter to speak at the MNA Conference on the topic of workplace wellness. We didn’t choose Beth because we wanted to end the Conference with a touchy-feely, feel good presentation. We chose her because we know organizational culture is the key to attracting and retaining talent on the staff team and in the board room. Beth’s body of work addresses culture, and specifically, the culture of the nonprofit work environment.

At our request, Beth will be returning to Montana next week, stopping in three communities as part of MNA’s 2019 Author’s Tour. We are closing the office to attend her training as a team because:

  1. Working at MNA is incredibly rewarding, but the work volume has the potential to chew us up. We are looking for concrete strategies for handling a challenging but sustainable pace of work.
  2. We are committed to a work culture at MNA that supports the long game, and we’re pretty sure good intention won’t get us there. We need to actually change some systems from the ground up.
  3. Believe it or not, a great mission isn’t enough! People want to like where they work, they want to enjoy their co-workers, and they don’t want to be stressed out and miserable at the end of the day. Work-life balance isn’t just a touchy-feely concept; it matters in the day to day, and it matters for the bottom line.

Beth’s MNA Conference reviews were great! One attendee said “Rarely is an all-day workshop so engaging!” Other comments included “Super high energy”, “Highly interactive” and “Just what I needed!”   To be clear, Beth’s workshop is not a staff “spa day”, although that’s actually a great idea. It’s a training session which will offer the tools and information needed to shift thinking, behavior, and ultimately work culture – while having fun.

So on April 29th, MNA will be hitting the refresh button and reloading our page. We hope you can do the same.

Beth will be in Bozeman (4/29), Helena (4/30) and Missoula (5/1). The early bird registration deadline is April 22nd. We’ll see you there!
