Right now, Montanans are transfering billions of dollars to the next generation. It’s estimated that by 2020, $123 billion will pass from one generation to the next. The question is whether any of that wealth will stay behind in the communities that helped build it.

If only a small portion of this wealth—say 5%—was protected in permanent charitable endowments, millions of dollars would be available each year to invest in Montana communities and the charities that make them the places we love to call home.

The Montana Community Foundation commissioned a Transfer of Wealth Study in 2011.  Using the most recent data and methodology, the updated study shows the incredible potential to build and sustain Montana communities. Use the resources here to learn more about Montana's transfer of wealth opportunity and how to preserve it for your hometown.
