Mary Peterson

As a fundraiser for nearly 40 years, Mary Peterson was lucky enough to work with interesting, accomplished, and generous individual donors, as well as foundations, corporations, and government agencies. From 2009 until her retirement in 2017, she served as executive director of Eagle Mount Bozeman, a nonprofit organization offering adaptive adventures for people with disabilities and children with cancer. While at Eagle Mount, Mary helped to strengthen the organization, launched new programs for Paralympic hopefuls, veterans, parents and families, while retrofitting Eagle Mount for sustainability. Previously, Mary was development director for Heart of the Valley Animal Shelter, Museum of the Rockies, the MSU College of Nursing, and NAFSA: Association of International Educators, where she taught fundraising on four continents while also serving as the association’s ethics officer. A strong believer in professional associations, Mary served on the board of the Montana Nonprofit Association, and as its president from 2015 to 2017. Since her retirement, Mary has enjoyed the chance to meet and work with a wide variety of nonprofits in Montana and beyond. In 2019, Mary was honored with the ”Montana’s Best Legacy” award by MNA and the Montana chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
