In case you think the threat to the Johnson Amendment has gone away, it hasn’t.

If anything, the noise is building. In a closed door meeting on August 27, the President reportedly spent a considerable amount of time discussing the Johnson Amendment; so did a recent candidate for Senate in Missouri who said it is a top campaign priority. It’s a buzzkill to keep bringing this up, but within the next two weeks, a House-Senate conference committee is expected to meet to resolve whether the bill that funds the Internal Revenue service will include anti-Johnson Amendment language. This is still a hot issue. We ask you to continue to monitor developments with us and join us in sending a strong message to protect nonprofit nonpartisanship. More
