New Candidates

Jim Bennett serves as the executive director of the MSU-Northern Alumni Foundation. Since 2014, he has been the chief development officer of the Foundation and Alumni Association coordinator. Jim grew up in Lakeside, Montana and graduated from the University of Montana with a degree in History. He has worked in a variety of positions in both for-profit and non-profit ventures. Before being hired at the MSU-Northern Alumni Foundation, Jim worked for the Pharmacy Foundation of North Carolina, the fundraising and alumni engagement wing of the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Jim is an active volunteer within the Havre community. He serves on the Hill County Community Foundation’s Advisory Committee, the Downtown Revitalization Committee and Ag Business Committee for the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce, and is an officer of the Havre Lions Club. Jim and his wife Lindsey live in Havre with their son Arlo and daughter Alice. They enjoy hiking, canoeing, hunting, and exploring the backroads of Montana.
Gina Heckey is a Colorado native, relocated to Sidney, MT in 2013 after starting her nonprofit career in Kansas City. She currently serves as the Senior Executive for the Foundation for Community Care of Richland County, a healthcare fundraising and grant making organization. Gina graduated cum laude from the University of Missouri with two bachelor degrees. She received a BSBA in International Business with an emphasis in Management, and she received a BA in International Studies with an emphasis in French. She received her Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification in 2015. Gina began her career in the for-profit world. She worked as both an international auditor and retail management district manager for over 10 years. Gina has always found time to volunteer for several different organizations throughout her life, including the Humane Society, Special Olympics, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, CASA of Jackson County, Kiwanis International, local cancer and nutrition committees and the Ronald McDonald House. Through these experiences Gina decided to take her knowledge and passion for these causes and make it her full-time career. Gina currently serves on the Montana Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals board of directors.

Current Board Members Standing for a Second Term

Leslie, an Arizona native, is a graduate of the University of Arizona. She moved to Billings, from Helena, in 1998.has been the Billings Public Library Foundation Director since 2006. She is married to Doug Modrow and has two sons, Jeff, a recent graduate of MSU and Nick, who is a senior at Carroll College. Of course she loves reading and tries to spend time outdoors biking and hiking.

Rob was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan and graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in psychology from Drake University.

Rob has spent 40 years serving people with disabilities. He was employed by Choteau Activities in Choteau, Montana, has been the Executive Director of Reach, Inc. for the last 30 years and has experience serving on numerous Boards. His hobbies include playing guitar, playing and officiating hockey, and camping. He is married, with four children and two grandchildren
