Nonprofit Day at the Capitol

Join MNA and the Montana Community Foundation for our bi-annual Nonprofit Day at the Capitol. This is a chance for Montana nonprofits to meet legislators as the session begins, and learn the literal ins and outs of advocacy at the Montana Capitol.

9:30 AM – 10:30 AM | Communicating with Legislators: Tips and Tricks from Experts | DPHHS Auditorium
Moderated by Kendall Van Dyk
Former State Senator and current Managing Director, Montana Land Reliance
Kendall joined MLR in 2010 and has spent much of his professional career working in non-profit conservation, most recently with Trout Unlimited. Kendall was raised on a family farming and ranching operation near Three Forks, MT. In 2006, Kendall was elected to the Montana House of Representatives and in 2010 was elected to the Montana State Senate. He began with MLR in Billings as the organization’s Eastern Manager, and is now in Helena serving as a Managing Director. Kendall has a B.A. in Political Science from Montana State University-Bozeman.

11:00 AM – 1:00 PM | Lunch in the Rotunda | Invite your legislators to join you for lunch in the rotunda. You may bring one small informational piece to add to the booth showcasing nonprofits in your region. However, the most effective preparation is to invite your legislators to meet you for lunch. 12:05 – Welcome remarks from Governor Greg Gianforte
1:00 PM – 2:00 PM | What to Expect in 2023: An overview of the Governor’s priorities for the Session, including the Red Tape Commission. 1:00-1:30 Lieutenant Governor Kristen Juras | 1:30-2:00 Economic Development Director Mark Blasdel | DPHHS Auditorium
