The Montana Community Foundation
The Montana Community Foundation is a statewide community foundation that cultivates permanent philanthropy across the state of Montana by acting as bridge between donors and recipients. Our mission is to cultivate a culture of giving so Montana communities can flourish. Founded in 1988, MCF manages more than $150 million in assets and administers more than 1,400 philanthropic funds and planned gifts. Since its founding, MCF has reinvested more than $100 million in Montana through scholarships, grants, and programs.
In this session, learn more about the Montana Community Foundation and the power of endowments to make a lasting impact as well as useful tools for charitable giving in Montana.
All sessions will be recorded and available for registered attendees to access, along with all session resources, for six months after the event.

Mary Rutherford
As the President and Chief Executive Officer, Mary leads the Montana Community Foundation (MCF) in its mission of cultivating a culture of giving so Montana communities can flourish. Joining the Foundation in 2014, Mary has more than 20 years of philanthropic leadership experience in Idaho and Alaska. A fifth-generation Idahoan, Mary earned a master’s degree in Philanthropic Studies from Indiana University and a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, ID. Mary is a Certified Fund Raising Executive. With a belief that philanthropy can empower individuals to transform society, Mary’s work at MCF highlights the importance of local and community impact.
